filip custic in Somerset House’s ongoing exhibition, Virtual Beauty

The exhibition explores the evolving relationship between humanity and the digital realm through contemporary art, showcasing artists whose works engage critically and poetically with themes of technology, identity, and perception.

filip custic, known for his striking blend of photography, digital manipulation, and performance, contributes pi(x)el, a hyperrealist sculpture. The immobile figure, positioned on a rectangular pedestal, wears a suit of digital screens. Strategically placed over features including the mouth, eyes, and genitals, each screen displays a treasury of body-part images filmed from a diverse cast of models. With a simple swipe, viewers can change these images, using the suit to shape a new body that transcends gender, age, and race.

custic has exhibited internationally, with works held in prominent collections and featured in renowned institutions. His practice continually challenges and expands dialogues around identity, digital culture, and the body.

Bowman Hal is proud to support custic in presenting his innovative artistic vision on this prestigious platform, reaffirming our commitment to fostering cutting-edge contemporary art and cultural exchange.

You can visit the exhibition starting 23 July - 28 September 2025.
